That’s a great question. When our clients have remodeling, new remodeling in their bathrooms, contractors usually do not caulk the intersections in around the tub, or around the shower pan. It is very important always to have silicone whenever it’s hot and cold. It will have some variations, especially outside wall showers, in tub showers that you might have some movement from the outdoor elements. You should again. You should always caulk your shower every three to five years.
Caulking is a lot more forgiving and the joints need to be sealed, so you won’t have any kind of breach or any kind of water that could go into your wall and loosen your tile and soften your backer boards.
